“WRITE IT. SHOOT IT. PUBLISH IT. CROCHET IT, SAUTÉ IT, WHATEVER. MAKE.”
— JOSS WHEDON
I am a maker. I like to try anything and everything that interests me. As a result, my work encompasses a wide spectrum of techniques & materials.
I hope you enjoy this small sample of the many creative mediums I've played with over the years.

photos.
“THE BEST THING ABOUT A PICTURE IS THAT IT NEVER CHANGES, EVEN WHEN THE PEOPLE IN IT DO.”
-- ANDY WARHOL
My first camera was a Kodak Brownie box camera - the kind that used only extra wide (55mm?), black and white film. In spite of many moves over the years I still have that camera stashed away somewhere.
Some wonderful advice that I received early on about how to take photos stuck with me and helped to shape the way I viewed the world through a camera lens, "Never just snap the picture, take a few moments to really lookat what you are shooting!"
Many of the photos here are from a digital photography class that I took at college last year. We weren't allowed to edit them, meaning that everything we turned in for marking was straight out of the camera. That was challenging as I do love to tweak images in AF. I learned a lot, which goes to show you really are never too old to learn.

travel.
"TRAVEL LEAVES YOU SPEECHLESS...then turns you into a storyteller."
- IBN BATTUTA
Travel is something that excites my imagination. Like most people I started out travelling with a guidebook in hand and a list of all the "must-see" sights. As one place became many over the years I realized that the only way to see the real destination was to throw away the guidebook and to take myself wandering in the side streets.
Armed with a camera, and then later with my iPhone I've captured some of the experiences I liked the best. Many more live on in memory only. Here are some that I'd like to share with you.

about.
I am a wife to a wonderful man, mother to a grown son (also pretty great), and a maker of many things.
I love to create - whether it's with fibre, paint, or with a camera. I dabble in lots of mediums, but right now my focus is on working with fibre - dyeing, spinning and weaving.
My paintings are mostly in oils, watercolours and wax.
I use natural fibres like linen, silk, and wool in my garments.
I love to read and ride my motorcycle.
Life is flying by at an alarming rate - I don't want to miss a thing!
